Site 77 was formed in January 1990 by Mike Meiris and Mark Lambley.
The business was conducted from a yard at the rear of 77 Aylesbury Road, Aston Clinton, Nr Aylesbury, Bucks. Hence the name!
During the first few years small building contracts were undertaken to provide income as the yard had no stock to speak of and was not established.
For the first five years Mike (and Mark) worked a seven day week.
All deliveries and collections were made by the only vehicle, a 1978 ford 'D' series, with no power steering. Loading and un-loading was all by hand.
In August 2000 Mark decided to set up a similar business in Newmarket, as he had purchased a house nearby for his family.
Derek Morgan joined Mike as a partner in Site 77 on 1 January 2001 and has was largely responsible for the development of the architectural warehouse.
Paula Hammond was a valued member of staff since the formation of Site77, handling administration, organisation, accounts, etc and rose to the position of General Manager for Site 77.
In 2000 'The team' moved consolidated from yards in Aston Clinton, Wendover and Chesham into one large yard in College Road in Aston Clinton, so that all materials and staff were in one location. The site comprised of over one acre of hard standing plus 9,000 square feet under cover. Thus providing ample room for visitors, loading/unloading etc.
Fred Shoult held the position of yard manager and the driver of the 17 tonne Hi-ab providing crane deliveries. He was also the foreman responsible for any demolition work that is undertaken.
The creation of this Web site was the first time that Site 77 had undertaken any form of advertising.
In 2007 "Site 77" was sold to James Coupland, however after approximately one year I purchased it back as a "shell company" as I did not want the name to fall into the wrong hands having been associated with the company for so long.
Rob Grouse joined Site77 from 2007 to 2010 and was instrumental in overseeing various building projects and handled many trade deals. In January 2011 he was approached to become sales director for the new company called Stately Interiors based in Aylesbury. A challenge that could not be refused.
In June 2011 Site 77 relocated to Bridge Farm in Winslow as this was most convenient for Mike to run the business as he lives in Winslow. Visits to the site are arranged on an appointment only basis.
